The Board holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 8:00 a.m. in the District office. During the months of November and December the meeting schedule is adjusted for the holidays. Special meetings may be called by a majority consensus of the Board. All meetings of the Board are open to the public with the exception of closed sessions, which are held for purposes specified in the Open Meetings Act.
At least 72 hours prior to the time of all regular meetings an agenda (PDF format), which includes but is not limited to all matters on which action may be taken, is posted on the bulletin board of the District office, and the agenda for a special meeting is posted at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. The agenda for each regular meeting is prepared by the staff in cooperation with the Board president, but any Board member may request an item be placed on the agenda.
A member of the public may request a matter directly related to District business be placed on the agenda of a regular meeting if the request is submitted in writing to District staff, together with any supporting documents and information, five days prior to the legally required public posting of the agenda. No matter legally a proper subject for consideration in closed session will be accepted under this provision. The Board may place limitations on the total time devoted to the matter at any meeting and may limit the time allowed for any one person to speak on the matter. This provision does not prevent the Board from taking testimony at regular meetings on matters not on the agenda that a member of the public may wish to bring before the Board, but the Board may not take action on such matters at that meeting.
The staff keeps records of official Board actions taken at all regular and special meetings, and these minutes are deemed public information.
