GCCDD Board Meeting with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Lisa McCracken Mairs and Aaron Chastain at the US Army Corps of Engineers- Galveston District for the exceptional hospitality and professional courtesy they extended today to the Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District (GCCDD).

Today, I, along with David Johnson, Superintendent Joseph Anderson, District Engineer Scott Sheridan, and Don Johnson, made the crucial trip to Galveston for our first-ever face-to-face meeting with the Corps. The wealth of knowledge and strategic advice on funding for critical projects we received was absolutely invaluable. Lisa and Aaron not only shared their expertise but also attentively listened to the pressing issues and concerns from our tax paying citizens. Together, we are forging a path forward to mitigate the flooding and drainage challenges that plague our GCCDD area.

A special shoutout to Samantha Haritos, our COO of Financial Procurement and Strategic Planning, for once again preparing an outstanding syllabus for this pivotal meeting. This marks the beginning of many strategic interactions with the Army Corps, who play an essential role in our mission to alleviate flooding and drainage issues across our gulf coast region.

We are eagerly anticipating our next meeting with the Army Corps this fall, where we will present a comprehensive list of projects aimed at achieving funding not previously known to be available to the GCCDD. Stay tuned and engaged as we take these critical steps forward!

💧 Together, we are building a safer, more resilient future for all!💧🔧
