A Groundbreaking Step Forward for Our Community

Dear Citizens,

Today marks a pivotal moment for our community as we held a first-of-its-kind meeting with the Harris County Flood Control District at the GCCDD office in Friendswood. This historic gathering was orchestrated by our newest member at the GCCDD, Samantha Haritos, who prepared a comprehensive and strategic agenda to guide our discussions.

At the GCCDD, our mission has always been to identify and implement local flooding and drainage projects that we can fund with our local tax dollars. However, we recognize that the challenges we face require innovative solutions, larger sums of funding beyond what our our local base can deliver, along with robust partnerships for this to occur. This meeting is a testament to our commitment to building strong, face-to-face coalitions with significant partners in our area.

Looking ahead, we are determined to continue our collaborative efforts with key stakeholders, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the state of Texas, Friendswood, Pearland, League City and many others. Our goal is to advocate relentlessly for the district and enhance the quality of life for all our tax-paying citizens.

Thank you for your continued support. Take care and I look forward to seeing you around the district.

Warm regards,

-- Rusty Burkett, GCCDD President
